Alloy X-750 tube is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy used for its corrosion and oxidation resistance and high strength at temperatures to 1300°F. Although much of the effect of precipitation hardening is lost with increasing temperature over 1300°F, heat-treated material has useful strength up to 1800°F.

Depending on the application and the properties desired, various heat treatments are employed by inconel alloy X-750 tube . For service above 1100°F, particularly where loads are to be sustained for long times, optimum properties are achieved by solution treating (2100°F) plus stabilization treating (1550°F) plus precipitation treating (1300°F). For service below 1100°F, the alloy may be strengthened by precipitation treating after hot or cold working or by precipitation treating after equalizing or solution treating. A furnace-cooling treatment is also used to develop optimum properties for some applications.

• Exceptional High-Temperature Strength and Stability: Inconel X-750, also known as n07750 nickel alloy. The superior high-temperature performance of Inconel X-750 tube is fundamentally rooted in its unique precipitation-hardening mechanism. The deliberate additions of aluminum and titanium enable the formation of a fine, homogeneous, and coherent dispersion of the gamma-prime (γ′) phase—Ni₃(Al,Ti)—within the austenitic nickel-chromium matrix during a controlled aging heat treatment. These nanoscale precipitates act as formidable, thermally stable barriers to dislocation movement, effectively resisting the microstructural processes that lead to creep and stress relaxation. This engineered microstructure allows the alloy to retain a significant portion of its room-temperature strength and, critically, maintain dimensional integrity under sustained loads at temperatures up to approximately 1300°F (700°C), a defining capability for components in gas turbine engines, hot-section fasteners, and high-temperature tooling.

• Comprehensive Corrosion and Oxidation Resistance: Inconel X-750 tubing provides outstanding environmental resistance through a dual-defense mechanism inherent in its composition. The high chromium content (14-17%) is responsible for forming a dense, adherent, and self-healing chromium oxide (Cr₂O₃) scale on the surface, which provides exceptional resistance to oxidation and scaling in high-temperature air or combustion atmospheres. Concurrently, the high nickel base (≥70%) grants inherent metallurgical stability and resistance to a wide spectrum of corrosive challenges, including attack by chlorides (mitigating stress corrosion cracking), caustic media, and various reducing acids. This synergy ensures long-term surface stability and material preservation not only under pure thermal exposure but also in complex industrial and chemical processing environments where hot, aggressive media are present.

• Optimal Balance of Fabricability and Performance: Alloy X-750, also known as inconel 2.4669. A critical, yet often overlooked, characteristic of alloy X-750 tube is its engineered balance between high-strength performance and practical manufacturability. The alloy is supplied in a solution-annealed condition, a state in which it possesses good ductility, formability, and weldability, allowing it to be readily fabricated into complex shapes, welded into assemblies, or cold-worked. The material’s full high-strength potential is then activated through a subsequent aging treatment, which precipitates the strengtheningγ′phase without causing distortion or embrittlement. This separable two-step process—fabrication followed by strengthening—provides designers and manufacturers with remarkable flexibility, enabling the production of intricate, high-integrity components that achieve their demanding mechanical properties post-fabrication, a key advantage for complex aerospace, nuclear, and power generation systems.
